Job Summary

Our client, an internationally active provider of IT and back-office services and catering to the BFSI industry is currently on the lookout for a Senior System Administrator Red Hat Enterprise Linux (GENEVA) for immediate placement.

The company provides bespoke fund administration solution for hedge funds and middle/back office support service provider for family offices since more than 15 yrs. Offering a full suite of services encompassing; fund administration, middle and back office outsourcing, operational support, software implementation and related services to hedges funds and family offices. Their offices are spread across 5 countries with 7 offices, close to 700+ headcount.

Job Description

  • Serve as a senior systems administrator for UNIX/Linux & Geneva servers and services.
  • Learn the package Geneva that is being used either on Unix/Linux.
  • Monitor system performance and utilization and configure high availability of Geneva application based on need and usage (case by case basis)
  • Have knowledge on Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux distributions
  • Install, configure, and document new servers and applications as and when necessary
  • Automate workflow on Solaris/Geneva/Linux to save time
  • Ensure future growth is considered and calculate the hardware and software estimations
  • Configure clustering and high availability using Geneva SAGA technology to eliminate single point of failure
  • Maintain and audit user accounts on the server and on Geneva application and periodically review the same internally and with operations
  • Create a baseline security document to ensure security of the servers and implement the same
  • Track vulnerabilities and apply appropriate patches and upgrades as and when necessary after testing the feasibility
  • Generate statistics for operational review and planning and upgrade path based on the usage.
  • Develop a project plan for Geneva upgrades with details of tasks involved, software and hardware estimations, pricing, effort estimation, responsibilities, time lines etc. and perform the activities in time
  • Respond rapidly to user requests based on the severity levels and the SLA’s that has been agreed
  • Respond rapidly to maintenance needs, including on weekends and evenings.
  • Responsible for all Geneva Servers, log shipping, back up’s, DR activities
  • Ship Geneva checkpoints onto the DR site timely and monitor the transfers

Responsibilities

  • Ship Geneva transaction logs every 5 minutes and monitor the transfers
  • Ensure Geneva database is backed up on tapes on a daily basis
  • Ensure Disaster recovery readiness is checked every month for Prod Geneva instances
  • Work with the IT Software team and RSL team for applications to connect to Geneva for transaction loading, pricing and reporting etc.
  • Ensure that the servers are running optimally to reduce the wait time for reports run by clients or applications
  • Liaise with support team for issues requiring support from experts and follow up on the trouble tickets
  • Responsible for all Geneva upgrades within the company and clients.
  • Ensure the team generates and sends out a daily MIS capturing all the details from the server which includes server performance, resource utilization, checkpoint and transaction logs transfer details etc.
  • Works with the IT Software team for deployment of RSL and RDL reports on Geneva Core and Geneva .NET application server respectively
